Who doesn't want amazing wedding photos? 5 years after your wedding what will you remember the most from your big day?
"The centre pieces that took 1 week every day after work to make?" No try again.
10 years after your wedding what will you be sharing with friends and family?
"The cake cause everyone loves cake!" No and why do you have 10 year old cake in your freezer?
20 years after your wedding what will be hanging on your wall?
"Ah I got it now is it wedding photos?" Yes you got it!
Your wedding photos are the most important part of your wedding because they are your reminder of what an amazing day it was. Except for the part that you did way too many Fireball shots but luckily the photographers were long gone when that happened.
So how can you make sure that your wedding photos are great? We have a list to make sure this happens for you.
1. Hire a professional photographer!
I know your best friends sisters husband just got a new camera for Christmas but wedding photography is definitely not the area of your wedding that you want to let someone learn on the job.
Professionals know how make you feel comfortable so you don't have that deer in the headlights look, they also know how to pose you to make you look your best, don't forget about lighting any situation possible.
2. Have a backup plan for unpredictable weather
Your photographer should be experienced with all kinds of weather. We have photographed weddings in the rain, snow, wind, and blazing sun. We are always prepared to go outside regardless of the weather but depending on the couple you may not want to. If this is the case we always recommend booking a back up location months before the wedding.
3. Timing is everything
If you are having an outdoor ceremony try to plan the start time for later in the afternoon. The sun is directly above everyone at noon. What this means is everyone will have dark circles under their eyes if its sunny out. We can definitely prevent this for the portraits but during the ceremony there is not much we can do.
We hope you find these tips helpful! At Darcy Preece Photography we want to make sure that your big day is as stress free as possible.
