Bailey and Travis had a beautiful wedding that took place on July 18th, 2015 in Canmore, Alberta. With the Rocky Mountains as our backdrop we had so many options to choose from. Bailey and Travis had a few of their favourite spots picked out and one of them was this location. The Bow River is a sparkling emerald green and the old train bridge is a perfect spot for wedding photos.
We wanted to create a romantic image and incorporate Bailey's long veil. We asked them to get in nice and close to each other and asked Bailey to turn slightly away from Travis. We created this image because we wanted to show the mountains, river, and bridge.
The ceremony and reception took place at the Silvertip Golf Course located at 2000 Silvertip Trail, Canmore, AB T1W 3J4 Phone number (403) 678-1600. There is lots of parking for guests. When I look at this image I feel a great deal of emotion and love coming from the couple. This image was taken at around 2:30 in the afternoon and it was an extremely hot day in mid July. Because the sun was directly above the couple we had to use a reflector to brighten up the shadows on their faces. Asking them to close their eyes was because the reflector can make it hard to open your eyes. My wife Jackie was helping with the reflector to bounce the light in the right spot. I was using a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 24-70mm 2.8L series lens to get this shot. The difficulties in creating this image would definitely be the hot weather and the sun directly above the couple. We had to take breaks to give the couple a chance to cool down. The other issue was to keep the background from blowing out the highlights. We started on the bridge with some walking shots and then moved closer to the water as the bridge was quite busy.
Location: Canmore Train Bridge.
