Edmonton Wedding Photography at River's Edge

When it comes to Edmonton wedding venues, River's Edge is truly something special. With its stunning natural surroundings, elegant dome tent, and peaceful atmosphere, it's the perfect setting for couples dreaming of a beautiful outdoor wedding. As an Edmonton wedding photographer that grew up in the Devon area I have had the privilege of watching this venue transform into one of the most sought after venues in the province. I have had the privilege of capturing love stories at River's Edge, and each time, I'm reminded why it's such a favourite for so many couples.

I would like to share what makes River's Edge unique as well as some tips for getting the most out of your wedding photography at this venue.

Why River's Edge is a Stunning Venue for Weddings

The highlight is its picturesque surroundings: rolling hills, serene views of the North Saskatchewan River, and natural light.

The ceremony space is like no other. You must see it to believe it and I promise it will take your breath away. The reception area is an elegant dome tent that can open up or bring the walls down to protect you from the elements. They also offer a bridal suite and groom suite which is perfect as you can both get ready on the property to minimize travel time on the big day. Some of the other amenities include a Cigar Den, Grain Bin Bar, and my favourite the Twinkle Barn which comes with hundreds of tiny lights to illuminate the perfect photo. Rivers Edge offers both an elegant and relaxed vibe, perfect for a variety of wedding styles.

Photography Tips for River's Edge Weddings

If possible I usually recommend having your ceremony as late in the day as possible. The later the ceremony the better the light. Plus who wants to wake up early on their wedding day? The other benefit to having a later ceremony is it shortens the time gap between the ceremony and reception. This way your guests don't need to leave and come back. Golden Hour is spectacular at River's Edge. With wide open fields and the river as your backdrop it is a photographers dream.

If the sun is too much on the day of your wedding there is a nice shady spot behind the bridal suite that provides an opportunity to cool down while capturing some great images by the trees. When it comes to weather on your wedding day, regardless if it's a sunny, cloudy, or rainy day my best advice is to just roll with it. Some of the greatest weddings that I have photographed were ones that had the most extreme weather. Take this couple for example in the photo. Becky and Ryan's wedding day started off cloudy and when Becky walked down the aisle she was drenched by a torrential rain storm. She had the biggest smile and just kept walking which made for some very unique ceremony photos.

River's Edge is more than just a wedding venue, it's a place where memories are made, surrounded by nature and the people you love most. If you're planning your wedding at River's Edge and looking for a photographer who knows the area very well and how to highlight its beauty and capture your unique story, I would love to connect. Let's make your dream wedding photos a reality.
