Engagement Photos Sherwood Park
We met Becky at Bridal Fantasy in Edmonton, and then met Cory at our wedding consultation at Good Earth Café. When they described their outdoor wedding we had so many great ideas to capture such a special day for them. When we were planning their engagement session both Becky and Cory expressed how much they loved the outdoors and wanted to incorporate as much of a natural setting as we could. This couple lives on a beautiful piece of property just outside of Sherwood Park. They run Shadowlands Ranch and board horses year round. We went out there in the spring of 2015 around 5:30pm on May 31st to capture their engagement photos. The weather started out great and we got some amazing shots around their yard. After about 20 min there was a storm moving in so luckily they have a cool barn that we could take a bit of cover and continue with the shoot in there. This photo was taken before the storm came. Becky had mentioned that the tree was filled with flowers a few days ago but we were extremely happy with what we saw. I knew if I moved them away from the tree a little and shot at 200mm it would create a gorgeous backdrop. We posed them so they were both looking at the camera and made sure that you could see the ring even though it would not be in focus for this shot. The sky had darkened quite a bit so we needed to pop some flash to brighten them up a little. I used a Canon 5D Mark III with a 70-200mm 2.8L series lens and a Canon 430 ex II speedlite to capture this image. I created this image because I think it is very important to have a nice profile view of the couple looking at the camera. The difficulties that I encountered would have been the light. We were running out of it quickly with the storm coming so we needed to use a bit of flash. I set the speedlite to manual power and dropped it down to ¼ power.Location: Sherwood Park, Alberta.
