If you have decided to get married in the summer we want to help you with all of the lessons that we have learned over the years of photographing weddings.
One of the most important lessons we can suggest is to have a backup plan. We have seen so many weddings without one and it usually ends in disappointment. When couples dream of a beautiful outdoor ceremony and they are forced inside due to rain, make sure you are happy with the alternative before the wedding day.
A backup plan is also important for the wedding photos. We know lots of locations in Edmonton that offer and indoor option but most of them require a booking ahead of time as well as a fee. For some couples they are willing to wing it and hope for the best weather on their wedding day, if this is not you then we definitely recommend booking something in advance just incase.
Water and food are everything on a wedding day. This may seem like an obvious suggestion but we have seen so many wedding parties overlook this vital detail. Yes a cooler full of booze is important but if no one has eaten or drank any water during a hot summer day in August you could be in for trouble.
Mosquito spray is almost as important as the food and water depending on where you're getting married. If its anywhere near a lake then this becomes priority number 1! Groomsmen have the suits to protect them from the bugs but the bride and bridesmaids will get eaten alive. No one will be smiling in your wedding photos if the bugs are biting.
Fans are a nice option if you are having an outdoor ceremony with no shade. Your guests will thank you for helping them manage the sun.
We love summer weddings in Edmonton! We hope that you find some of our information helpful on your big day.
