Why are wedding photographers important? What makes a good wedding photographer? Why should we hire you to photograph our wedding? I thought it would be interesting if I answered these questions as they seem to be the ones that get asked the most.
Wedding photographers are important because they capture all of the main parts of your day. The best ones capture moments that you didn't even know happened. When you look back on your wedding day 5 years or 50 years later the one thing that won't change is your photos. When your children and grandchildren go through their family history those same photos will tell the story of how your family started. We understand the monumental meaning of these moments and understand the brevity of time.
This leads into the next question. Whats makes someone a good wedding photographer? Obviously the first part is the technical side. Knowing your camera gear inside and out and being able to light any situation possible. If we show up to an extremely dark church no problem. If we walk into a ceremony space with a ton of sunlight, we got this. Receptions are where you really see who knows what they are doing. If you really want to test a photographers knowledge of light ask them to see as many reception photos as possible. Once you have established they know their camera well, the next observation to make is their personality. Meet them for coffee ask them about their life and why they do what they do. I believe that my life experience has shaped me in a way that makes me appreciate how important any photo is. I lost my father in a tragic accident when I was a teenager and my mother just last year. When you lose someone the only thing you have is the memories and photos. I promise to never take that for granted on your wedding day.
So why should you hire me? I strongly encourage a meeting so we can see if we are a great fit. Once we get to opportunity to sit down and ask each other questions you will know right away if I am the one. I promise that you will not find anyone that will give more than me on your wedding day. I photographed a wedding the day after we brought my son home from the hospital, I photographed another a few days after my mom passed away. I tell you this because when it comes to your wedding day I am completely consumed by capturing images that no one else will. I can get back to my life the day after your wedding. This is not just a career for me it's a drive to be better every time I pick up the camera.
